This is Aaron Donald, who just walked away from the game at the absolute peak of his powers, suddenly remembering what it feels like to be in a place where champions are made. Something is reminding him of what it felt like to be the best, to be unstoppable, to be the guy that offensive linemen feared.

The Rams have been struggling this year, and that is putting it mildly. The team that won the Super Bowl just a few years ago is dealing with real problems on that defensive front. They need a pass rush. They need a presence up the middle that makes quarterbacks nervous. They need Aaron Donald, and I would bet my last dollar that Donald knows they need him. Whether it is conscious or subconscious, the man is being pulled back to the place where he belongs, where he was the king of his domain.

I remember back in 2014, when Donald was drafted, people wondered if he was too small to play inside defensive tackle at the next level. Too small! The man is five foot eleven, which is below average for his position, and yet he went out there and proved that heart, work ethic, technique, and instinct could overcome any physical limitations.
